Quarantine Dates — Themed Days

Updated: Apr 20, 2022

I was left pretty uninspired by date idea articles over the pandemic, so I had to come up with some of my own. The Quarantine Dates series goes over some of my favorite dates that I had tried out with my partner, all socially distanced, and all good fun! Most, if not all of these can probably be adjusted to fit the needs of any budget, and can be very family friendly if you need some ideas for your kids or just a good roommate.

Indoor camping

Get yourself a cheap 2 person tent, your coziest blankets, some comfort food and an array of camp themed activities for a cute indoor camping date.

Since we live in the city, we invested in a really nice star projector to add some much needed atmosphere to our dining room. We also had a campfire in the backyard with s’mores and hotdogs, watched some nature documentaries, and read spooky stories to close out the night.

Cryptid theme

So this one was actually a twist on the camping theme to keep it interesting, with added sasquatch and jersey devil onesies, cryptid themed movies, and additionally we tried out some freeze dried camping food that actually turned out to be pretty tasty!

Halloween theme

I always get a hankering for some Halloween fun beginning mid-summer, so why not indulge a little early? We got some food-safe potion bottles to make some sparkly cocktails in, set up some black pillar candles and pumpkins, and threw on some of our favorite Halloween classics and cheesy horror films. To top it off, I threw on my back-up witch costume to go with my drink!

Nostalgia Trip

Grab some of your favorite cereals, and plop down on the couch in your coziest pajamas for your favorite Saturday morning cartoons. With streaming services this is easier than ever to do. Plus, YouTube has a great collection of old commercials you can throw in the mix to make it feel real. I have never met an adult who hasn’t wanted to relive the simplicity of being a kid, so why not just go for it?

You don’t have to stick just to cartoons either, there are endless possibilities. Dust off your childhood console(or if you don’t have it anymore, find an emulator, it’s 2021!), a favorite board game, whatever should please you and allow you to forget your adult responsibilities for the day. It may be best to spend the day before knocking out all of your chores, or make a plan for the next day with a fresh outlook to tackle it all.
